    Ferrari crowned inaugural MotoE™ World Cup winner

    Granado vainqueur de la Course 1, Ferrari favori au titre

    Poleman, le Brésilien a mené en solitaire devant un beau duel entre Garzo et Smith, chassant Ferrari toujours leader du championnat.


    Voilà une course qui satisfait les principaux protagonistes ce samedi au Circuit Ricardo Tormo. Dans la première manche de cette dernière étape du MotoE™ à Valence, Eric Granado (Avintia Esponsorama Racing) a signé sa première victoire dans la catégorie.
    En pole, le Brésilien est doublé au départ par Bradley Smith (One Energy Racing), tandis qu’Hector Garzo (Tech 3 E-Racing) se place troisième et résiste à l’attaque de Xavier Simeon (Avintia Esponsorama Racing) qui le double malgré tout après quelques virages. Derrière, le meneur du championnat Matteo Ferrari (Trentino Gresini MotoE) est cinquième à l’issue du premier tour. Le Britannique prend une petite avance d'une seconde après deux boucles sur Granado, pressé par Garzo, Ferrari doublant Simeon pour la quatrième place. Derrière, Di Meglio remonte à la 10e place
    Au 5e tour, Smith est rattrapé par Granado et Garzo, Ferrari et Simeon étant distancé à plus de deux secondes et demie. Dans l’avant-dernier tour, Granado attaque au bout de la ligne droite, Garzo tentant de prendre l’aspiration mais ne pouvant passer le Britannique. Les deux hommes s’échangent leurs positions plusieurs fois dans un magnifique duel.
    Granado passe sans souci en tête sous le drapeau à damiers pour sa première victoire de la saison, Garzo et Smith grimpant également sur le podium. Ferrari termine quatrième de cette Course 1, Simeon enregistrant un Top 5. Côté Français, Mike di Meglio (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) 11e, ne peut plus espérer le titre, Randy de Puniet (LCR E-Team) est 14e et Kenny Foray (Tech 3 E-Racing) 17e cette première course du week-end.

    Au classement, Matteo Ferrari conserve le trône avec 85 points, mais son avance fond à 12 points sur Hector Garzo (73 points) et 21 points sur Bradley Smith (64 points), soit trois prétendants au titre pour ce dimanche. Xavier Simeon grimpe à la quatrième position avec 56 points devant di Meglio, cinquième avec 52 points.
    La deuxième et dernière course MotoE™ de la saison vous donne rendez-vous ce dimanche à 15h35 au Circuit Ricardo Tormo.

    Garzó disqualifié de la course 1

    L’Espagnol, qui avait rallié l’arrivée en deuxième position, a été disqualifié pour pression de pneus non conforme.

    Hector Garzó (Tech3 E-Racing) a été disqualifié de cette première course MotoE™ du week-end, qu’il avait rallié à la deuxième position, après un magnifique duel face à Bradley Smith (One Energy Racing). Motif : une pression de pneus non conforme

    Cette disqualification l’élimine par conséquent de la course au titre, alors qu’il était revenu à 12 longueurs de Matteo Ferrari (Trentino Gresini MotoE). Ils ne sont par conséquent plus que deux à pouvoir prétendre à la couronne : Matteo Ferrari et Bradley Smith.

    Granado beats Smith on the final lap for a double victory, Ferrari creates history

    Matteo Ferrari (Trentino Gresini MotoE) has been crowned 2019 FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup winner thanks to a P5 finish in Race 2 at the Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana. Eric Granado (Avintia Esponsorma Racing) beat Bradley Smith (One Energy Racing) on the final lap to claim a double victory at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, with Hector Garzo (Tech 3 E-Racing) completing the Race 2 podium after being disqualified from Race 1.
    Because of Garzo’s removal from the Race 1 results, Ferrari could only be beaten to the inaugural title by one rider coming into Race 2: Smith, with the points gap sitting at 20. Launching from P3, the British rider got a great getaway and did exactly what he would have planned – lead into Turn 1. The number 38 then had the hammer down as he immediately pulled away from the chasing pack, with Ferrari sitting P3 after the opening lap. 1.1 was Smith’s advantage to Granado after the first lap, with Garzo making his way up to P3 past Ferrari and Alex de Angelis (Octo Pramac MotoE).
    With three laps to go Smith and Granado were locked together, the pairing nearly four seconds clear of Garzo in third. Smith was doing all he could to try and claim the MotoE™ title, but Ferrari was also doing enough – the Italian sitting P5, that position handing him the crown by six points. Without a win this season, Smith was determined as ever to grab 25-points and heading onto the last lap it was Smith vs Granado for the win. Down the back straight, Granado was clinging onto Smith’s coattails and made a move stick at Turn 8. Smith then immediately bit back at Turn 11, making a daring pass up the inside. On the exit though, Granado bullied his way back to P1. Last corner time, was Smith going to try snatch victory? Of course. The One Energy Racing man lunged underneath Granado but he was wide, allowing Granado to get the switchback and claim a double Valencia victory.
    The main story was further back though. Knowing all he had to do was finish inside the top 10, Ferrari cruised across the line to become the first-ever MotoE™ World Cup winner. The Italian took the title by 11 points over Smith, with Granado’s victory giving him P3 in the Cup standings, two points ahead of Garzo.
    An enthralling maiden MotoE™ campaign draws to a close, with Ferrari etching his name into the history books. Bring on 2020!
