WRC Rallye Deutschland : Les maîtres-volaillers du WRC-2 !/ WRC2’s poultry producers!
Le Français Bryan Bouffier (Peugeot 208 T16) et l’Allemand Armin Kremer (Skoda Fabia R5) s’affrontent ce week-end en catégorie RC2. Ils portent tous deux les couleurs de volaillers. Armin Kremer possède un des plus beaux palmarès du rallye allemand.
Nous avions déjà parlé des poulets Royal Bernard, partenaire de Bryan Bouffier, lors du dernier Rallye Monte-Carlo. Et bien ce week-end, nous avons trouvé la version allemande puisqu’Armin Kremer porte les couleurs de son entreprise, Freiland Puten, spécialisée dans l’élevage et la commercialisation de dindes bio…
Cette anecdote est surtout l’occasion de parler d’Armin Kremer (46 ans), un des plus beaux palmarès du rallye allemand avec trois titres nationaux (1996, 98, 99), un titre de Champion d’Europe (2001) et un titre de Champion d’Asie-Pacifique (2003).
Armin Kremer a débuté dans la discipline en 1992 sur une petite Peugeot 205 GTi. C’était au Rallye Deutschland, déjà. Il a ensuite piloté en catégorie Groupe N, principalement en Allemagne, avant de passer sur Subaru Impreza Groupe A, puis World Rally Car. C’est au Rallye Monte-Carlo 1998 qu’il a signé son meilleur résultat en Mondial avec une 8e place finale.
En 2001, au volant d’une Toyota Corolla WRC, il a décroché le titre européen après deux victoires, avant de s’attaquer avec succès au championnat Asie-Pacifique 2003 et de marquer une pause fin 2004.
« J’ai repris une entreprise agricole d’élevage de dindes et de poulets bio qui emploie aujourd’hui 240 personnes », nous a expliqué Armin. « On exporte beaucoup en Russie, au Moyen-Orient… »
Malgré un emploi du temps chargé, Armin Kremer n’a pas pu résister aux démons du rallye. « On est revenu en WRC-2 en 2013 sur une Subaru GrN avant de poursuivre sur Skoda Fabia S2000, puis R5 à partir du Rallye du Portugal 2015. A 46 ans, il faut être un peu fou, hein ! Le niveau du WRC-2 est très relevé, mais on est encore performant. »
Ce week-end, intégré au team Skoda Auto Deutschland, il dispute son 14e ADAC Rallye Deutschland sur une Skoda Fabia R5 préparée par le team autrichien BRR, une épreuve qu’il a remportée en 1999 sur une Subaru Impreza WRC. Il est l’un des quatre anciens vainqueurs au départ de l’édition 2015.
Son programme 2015 se poursuivra en Corse et en Espagne. Pour 2016, rien n’est encore décidé, mais Armin aimerait aider un jeune pilote allemand, comme il a pu le faire cette année avec son copilote, Pirmin Winklhofer, 20 ans seulement.

In Trier, we have found the German equivalent, since Armin Kremer’s car features the colours of his own company – Freiland Puten – which specialises in the rearing and marketing of organic turkeys.
This anecdote provides the ideal introduction to talk about Kremer, 46, who boasts one of the best rallying records in Germany, including three national crowns (1996, 1998 and 1999), a European title (2001) and an Asia-Pacific title (2003).
He made his debut in the sport on the Rallye Deutschland driving a Peugeot 205 GTi in 1992. He then progressed to Group N, chiefly in Germany, before switching to a Group A Subaru Impreza and, ultimately, a WRC version of the same car. His best world class result was eighth on the 1998 Rallye Monte-Carlo.
He claimed the 2001 ERC crown after claiming two wins in a Toyota Corolla WRC. That was followed up by a successful Asia-Pacific programme in 2003 before he took a break at the end of 2004.
“I decided to acquire an organic poultry business which today employs 240 people,” says Armin. “We export much of our production to places like Russia and the Middle East.”
Despite his busy diary, the Germany couldn’t stay away from the sport forever. “I made my comeback in 2013 in WRC2 driving a Group N Subaru. I then switched to a Skoda Fabia S2000, and now the R5 version since Portugal this year. You have to be a bit crazy at my age. The level in WRC2 is very high, but we’re still competitive…”
This week, he is sporting the colours of Skoda Auto Deutschland for his 14th Rallye Deutschland appearance, and his Fabia R5 is prepared by the Austrian outfit BRR. He is one of the four previous winners of the event taking part this week since he came first in 1999 in a Subaru Impreza WRC.
Armin’s 2015 programme also includes Corsica and Spain. In 2016, he would like to help a young German driver, just as he has been helping 20-year old Pirmin Winklhofer, his co-driver, this year.
WRC Rally Deutschland (WRC): Opel dans la course / Opel in motorsport
Parmi les courses de support à l’ADAC Rallye Deutschland 2015, l’Opel Adam Cup a attiré 16 équipages. Le constructeur allemand est Champion d’Europe Junior 2015 avec le Suédois Emil Bergqvist.
Le paddock Opel occupe un vaste espace au cœur du parc d’assistance de Trèves avec un important réceptif et pas moins de seize Adam soigneusement alignées.
Ces petites Opel Adam correspondent à des R1 même si elles ne sont pas homologuées comme telles par la FIA. Elles sont équipées de pneus Michelin pour la 3e année consécutive.
Huit courses figurent au calendrier 2015, dont l’ADAC Rallye Deutschland qui compte double. Cette formule de promotion, soutenue par le puissant ADAC, a attiré de nombreux jeunes pilotes, principalement des Allemands, mais aussi Suédois, Finlandais (le fils de Sebastian Lindholm) et un Belge, Yannick Neuville, frère de Thierry. Les lauréats progressent l’année suivante en catégorie R2. Julius Tannert est leader de la Cup 2015.
L’ADAC Opel Rallye Junior Team vit une saison 2015 faste en ERC avec le titre européen Junior décroché par Emil Bergqvist (21 ans) au volant d’une Opel Adam R2 performante face aux Peugeot 208. Le Suédois a remporté les deux premières manches de la saison (Lettonie, Irlande du Nord). Le team est aussi leader du championnat ERC3 et a participé à quelques épreuves mondiales, comme au Rallye du Portugal, avec le jeune espoir allemand Marijan Griebel.
Opel a remporté six rallyes WRC (25 podiums) dans les années 1970-1980 avec Walter Rohrl, Anders Kulang, Josepf Haider et Ari Vatanen sur Ascona et Kadett. Le constructeur allemand, membre du groupe automobile GM, va-t-il renouer avec son glorieux passé dans la discipline ?
Hélas… D’après nos informations, le projet d’Opel Corsa R5 ne semble plus trop d’actualité. En rallye, la filière Opel Motorsport s’arrête pour l’instant à l’étage R2. Hormis une présence en championnat TCR international (Tourisme) via le Campos Racing, Opel n’est guère impliqué dans d’autres disciplines motorsport de haut niveau,
The single-make Opel Adam Cup accounts for 16 of the entries for the 2015 ADAC Rallye Deutschland. The German make has already wrapped up this year’s ERC Junior championship with Sweden’s Emil Bergqvist.
The Opel paddock occupies a big space in the heart of the main service park in Trier, including an extensive hospitality facility.
The 16 Opel Adams are classed as R1 cars – even though they are not actually homologated in that class by the FIA – and are running on Michelin tyres for the third year running.
The 2015 ADAC-backed series features eight rounds, with Rallye Deutschland worth double points. It has attracted a high number of talented young drivers, chiefly Germans, but also from Sweden, Finland (Sebastian Lindholm’s son) and Belgium (Thierry Neuville’s brother Yannick). The prize is an R2 programme the following year and the standings are provisionally topped by Julius Tannert.
Meanwhile, the ADAC Opel Rallye Junior Team is enjoying a successful season at ERC level and has already sewn up the Junior title with 21-year old Emil Bergqvist in an Opel Adam R2 that has proved competitive against the Peugeot 208runners. The Swede won the first two rounds of the season (Latvia, Northern Ireland).
The team is also in front in the ERC3 class and has taken part in a number of WRC events – including Portugal – with German youngster Marijan Griebel.
In the 1970s and 1980s, Opel Asconas and Kadetts notched up six WRC victories and 25 podium finishes with Walter Rohrl, Anders Kulang, Josepf Haider and Ari Vatanen.
So, could we see the GM brand rekindle its successful rallying past? Sadly no, it seems. We understand that the Opel Corsa R5 project is a non-starter and Opel Motorsport’s cavalry currently peaks at R2 level.
