Bol d’Or,(Free Practice 1): Kawasaki SRC set the pace / essais libres : Kawasaki SRC déjà devant

Kawasaki SRC – winner of the last two Bol d’Ors – topped the order in this afternoon’s Free Practice session at Magny-Cours, chased by SERT, Honda Racing and GMT 94 (Michelin).

At 2pm local time, the 45 bikes entered for this year’s Bol d’Or – the last to be held at Magny-Cours – pulled out of their pits for two hours of free practice as the morning’s mist made way for some welcome warm sunshine.

Barely half-an-hour later, the session was interrupted for 10 minutes following the fall of Frenchman Matthieu Lagrive (Kawasaki SRC) who was taken to hospital for additional checks in nearby Nevers after he complained of back pain. We will keep you posted as soon as we hear any official information concerning his condition.

The incident didn’t prevent his team-mate Grégory Leblanc from putting the N°11 Kawasaki at the top of the timesheet and he was the only rider to squeeze beneath the 1m41s mark (1m40.082s).

Meanwhile, it has also been confirmed that Kawasaki SRC will be without Fabien Foret this weekend since he will be at Assen for the Dutch round of the Superbike World Championship (WSBK). Nicolas Salchaud has been named as the team’s third rider.

This afternoon’s second best time (1m41.124s) was the work of SERT (Vincent Philippe/Erwan Nigon/Anthony Delhalle/Damian Cudlin), ahead of Honda Racing (1m41.287s, Da Costa/Gimbert/Foray) which is making its official return to the Endurance World Championship this weekend.

GMT 94 (Michelin) was fourth fastest (1m41.447s), while Arturo Tizon put the N°55 Honda (National Motos) in fifth spot on the session’s final lap (1m41.771s). Second to fifth places were covered by less than a second.

R2CL (Suzuki, Gwen Giabbani/Guy Martin/Gareth Jones), who came second at Le Mans in 2013, is sixth (1m42.183s), chased by the best-placed Superstock bike, that of Suzuki Junior Team who succeeded in splitting YART and RS Speedbike Racing. The top 10 is rounded off by Racing Team Sarrazin (Michelin), the second-fastest Superstock machine.

A 14h00, les 45 équipes inscrites à la 78^ème édition du Bol d’Or, la dernière à Magny-Cours, se sont élancées pour deux heures d’essais libres. Le soleil, aux abonnés absents toute la matinée, s’est enfin montré pour apporter un peu de chaleur.

Après seulement 30 minutes, la session a été interrompue  pendant 10 minutes par drapeau rouge suite à la chute de Matthieu Lagrive (Kawasaki SRC). Se plaignant de douleurs au dos, Lagrive a été évacué à l’hôpital de Nevers pour des examens complémentaires. Nous vous tiendrons informés de son évolution de son état de santé dès que nous aurons davantage d’information. Néanmoins, cela n’a pas empêché Grégory Leblanc de placer la Kawasaki n°11 en haut de la feuille des temps en 1.40.082, seul pilote à être descendu en dessous des 1.41. Le team Kawasaki SRC devra se passer de Fabien Foret ce week-end retenu à Assen en Championnat du monde Superbike (WSBK). Nicolas Salchaud sera donc le troisième pilote.

Le SERT, emmené par Vincent Philippe, Erwan Nigon, Anthony Delhalle et Damian Cudlin, est crédité du deuxième temps en 1.41.124. Honda Racing (Da Costa/Gimbert/Foray) qui effectue son retour officiel en championnat du monde d’Endurance s’est classé troisième en 1.41.287. Le GMT 94 (Michelin) pointe à la quatrième place (1.41.447). Arturo Tizon a hissé la Honda n°55 de National Motos à la cinquième position dans le dernier tour (1.41.771). c’est très serré entre ces équipes qui se tiennent en moins d’une seconde.

Deuxième des dernières 24 Heures Moto, le team R2CL (Suzuki) composé de Gwen Giabbani, Guy Martin et Gareth Jones, est sixième en 1.42.183. Première équipe Superstock, le Suzuki Junior team s’est intercalé à la septième place au général devant le YART et RS Speedbike Racing.  Racing Team Sarrazin (Michelin), deuxième temps Superstock, complète le Top 10.
